Product: Fit Bike Co. – Hoodbird Frame

Morgan Long’s signature frame from Fit Bike Co., the Hoodbird, is out now! This frame is made right here in the U.S.A with a 75.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.8″ bottom bracket height, 9.5″ standover height and a 13.4″ – 14″ chainstay length. You can find a tall 5″ head tube, gussets on the top and down tubes with a “F-IT” embossed logo, a butted Supertherm top tube, straight gauge Supertherm down tube, straight gauge S-Bend tapered chain stays and straight guage ultra-tapered seat stays for 2.40″ tire clearance, curved seat and chain stay bridges, a MID bottom bracket with EZ-Out slots for bottom bracket removal, 5-degree angled removable brake mounts and guides, Investment cast seatposst clamp and 6mm thick drop outs.

The Hoodbird frame is available in gloss clear and translucent gold with top tube lengths of 20.75″ (5.275 lbs.), 21″ (5.320 lbs.) and 21.25″ (5.335 lbs.)

They have gone with a classic tan colorway that some of you older guys will recall as Gary Young‘s go-to color back in the day (and we’re assuming once again now that this frame is available). Chris Harti‘s signature frame from Fit Bike Co., the Hartbreaker, was just released. This frame is made right here in the U.S.A with a 74.5-degree head tube angle, 71-degree seat tube angle, 11.35″ bottom bracket height, 9.15″ standover height and a 13.8″ – 14.5″ chain stay length. The Hartbreaker features gussets on the top and down tubes, a butted Superthem top tube, Straight Gauge Supertherm down tube, a double butted seat tube, a MID bottom bracket, slightly tapered seat stays and single bend chain stays with clearance for 2.40″ tires, an engraved head tube with the Fit Bike Co. logo, double down tube welded on cable guides with a through the seat tube cable routing and longer 4Q Baked 14mm drop outs.

The Hartbreaker frame is available in 21″ (5.18 lbs.), 21.125″ (5.235 lbs.) and 21.5″ (5.3 lbs.) top tube lengths and color options of translucent black and gloss clear raw through all BMX shops and mail-orders that carry Fit Bike Co. worldwide.

Sneak Peek: Fiend – Colin Varanyak Signature Frame

Fiend dropped a sneak peek look at a sample of Colin Varanyak’s signature “Varanyak” frame that they will be dropping later this year. Not a lot of details have been released yet, but they did say it has a shorter back end and overall tighter geometry, which we’re assuming is compared to the other Fiend frames currently available. It sounds like we’ll be getting some more information sooner than later, so we’ll keep you posted as soon as we see more.

Mutiny Bikes – Randy Taylor Forever

Mutiny Bikes have released this amazing tribute video to Randy Taylor who we lost to suicide a few years back. Randy was one of a kind… An amazing rider and an amazing person that you couldn’t help but love. It still seems unreal that he’s not with us anymore. To go along with this video, Mutiny have re-released Randy’s signature Loosefer frame with full proceeds going to a Suicide Awareness Charity. We have posted up photos and full specs that you can check out after the jump. Randy Taylor Forever.

“Randy Taylor. Randy was a goodhearted, charismatic, creative, incredible person. One of the most fun dudes to be around ever, and one of the most gifted bike riders I’ve ever met.

Randy was a natural, there’s no question about it. No one could accuse him of taking anything too seriously, yet he excelled at everything he did – most notably riding bikes, making friends, and entertaining those around him. Everybody loved Randy. Everybody. Between his unstoppable energy, his carefree goofiness, and his unmatched talent for finding trouble, there was truly never a dull moment.
Randy always did his own thing, be it in life or on his bike. The phrase “ahead of his time” gets thrown around a lot, but I can’t think of a more shining example than Randy. Now having the benefit of years of perspective on his riding, it’s easy to see how talented and forward-thinking he really was. Even his seven-year-old frame geometry is easlily up to modern standards.

Randy may no longer be with us, but we are fortunate enough to have a fantastic video archive of his riding and of his personality. He will forever live on in the collective hearts and minds of his friends, his family, and anyone who enjoys his riding or had the good fortune of interacting with him.
