Stew Johnson – Palaver Podcast

August 16, 2019

Here’s one we’ve been looking forward to since Chris Doyle let it out that he was working on an interview with Stew Johnson for the Palaver Podcast. Today is the day that the interview dropped where it turned into over 2 hours of amazing stories and conversations covering Stew’s history in the industry and his film work, along with a lot of other things he gets into like making the “Real BMX” videos happen for the X Games. Stew isn’t a guy who likes to get in front of the camera much, but he did a great job with this. Hit play and take it all in!

“For this interview, I sit down with legendary BMX video maker, Stew Johnson. Stew is responsible for some to the most influential BMX videos of all time and has a career that has spanned nearly 25 years. On a personal level, Stew’s videos had a direct impact on my riding, the way I dressed, and the music that I listened to. I think the same could be said by countless riders from my generation. Stew still continues to push BMX in a positive direction through video; he produces X Games “Real BMX” on ESPN; a show that highlights street riders and filmers and shows what goes into filming a street video part. Watch/listen and find out more!” – Chris Doyle

Jerry Bagley – Palaver Podcast

July 19, 2019

Chris Doyle coming through with a banger of an episode for the latest Palaver Podcast. This time around he sits down with Jerry Bagley to talk about his wild ride from how he got into BMX to making a ton of money as a Pro rider and having one of the top selling BMX bikes to losing it all and having to get his life back on track. This is nearly 2 hours long and it’s a real good listen. Hit play and take this all in.

“A natural on a BMX bike, Jerry Bagley rode a wave of success as a top ten dirt jumper at a time when BMX dirt jumping was at its peak. Jerry’s professionalism on and off the bike landed him some of the most high profile sponsors in the modern era – case & point, Jerry was the first North American athlete to represent Red Bull. True to his nature, Jerry doesn’t hold back his feelings, and speaks openly and honestly about the payoffs and pitfalls of his professional BMX career. Enjoy!

A big thanks to Biz for co-hosting this interview. Also, thank you to Will Stroud for the help with my audio + video syncing!

* Also, my storage filled up on my phone and cut off the last 10 minutes of the interview, after which the video cuts to a split screen while the audio finishes. Sorry, I need better equipment!*” – Chris Doyle

Chris Stauffer “Home Of The Brave”

June 6, 2019

Chris Doyle is dropping a new interview with Chris Stauffer on the Palaver Podcast tomorrow, and he uploaded Chris’ old Anthem “Home of the Brave” video part that’s 22 years old and still kicks a ton of ass. This is all trails and street footage, and Stauffer has that classic style that is so good, even after all these years. Hit play and get stoked.

“Chris Stauffer’s section from 1997’s Anthem “Home Of The Brave”. Although Chris had footage in videos prior to this, this was the video part that helped solidify Chris as one of the greatest trail riders of all time. This video was uploaded with the permission of Stew Johnson (the man who made Anthem). Stay tuned for the Chris Stauffer podcast dropping Friday, 6/7/19” – Chris Doyle

May 30, 2019

Chris Doyle dropped the latest episode of Palaver Podcast to check out! “New interview is live! Next up, Anthony Napolitan. Anthony has been in the BMX spotlight now for well over a decade. He has countless accolades including Dew cups, X Games medals, World Champion titles, etc… On a personal level, it’s been awesome watching – first hand – as Anthony grew from a little kid at Section 8 skatepark to being one of the world’s best bike riders. It was really fun to reminisce about some of our sessions at Section 8 and chat about some of the guys that Anthony came up with. Watch/listen and find out more! A big thank you to Ronnie Napolitan for the hospitality during the interview (and the wine!).” – Chris Doyle

Palaver Podcast – Jay Roe

April 24, 2019

Chris Doyle coming through with a fresh round of the Palaver Podcast where he sat down with Kink BMX Team Manager and all around good dude, Jay Roe to get to know him a little better. This one kicks off with some pretty surprising history that Jay was actually a really good hockey player when he was in high school and that’s pretty mind blowing that even I had never heard about before. After that we get a look into more of the BMX side of his life, what his job is like, travelving and much, much more. This is a super good listen, so hit play and enjoy! Once again, REAL stoked to see Chris uploaded this to Youtube.

“Jay Roe left behind the possibility of playing collegiate (or possibly pro) hockey for a life of shipping orders, planning road trips, and 15 passenger vans – a dream job according to him. He is, perhaps, one of my most interesting friends and has a unique/refreshing perspective on BMX and life in general. We cover his life as a BMX TM, his diet, and of course… his… blanket? Listen to find out more about my friend, Jay Roe!” – Chris Doyle

Palaver Podcast – Darryl Tocco

April 4, 2019

Chris Doyle coming in hot with a fresh Palaver Podcast episode for you to enjoy! This time around he has Darryl Tocco sit down to talk BMX, traveling, his film work and much, much more. This also has Kink team manager Jay Roe on the show. Since all three of these guys are apart of Kink and have travelled around the world together, you better believe this lead to some awesome stories and discussion. Also bonus for this being put on Youtube as well! I know I’m a fan of this. Check it!

“A true renaissance man, Darryl Tocco took an early DIY approach to BMX by highlighting his own scene centered around a small group of good friends. Darryl’s work on both sides of the lens soon attracted the attention of the BMX industry world wide, landing him sponsorship deals with a variety of BMX sponsors.. all while continuing to provide video content for multiple BMX brands. No slouch ON the bike, Darryl has filmed respectable video parts in an array of BMX videos. In 2015 Darryl received a silver medal for his filming/editing work in @xgames real street with rider Colt Fake. Darryl’s clean professional aesthetic on the bike and behind the lens continues to inspire and motivate the BMX hardcores and veterans alike, and promises to do so for years to come! Listen and find out more about Darryl Tocco!” – Chris Doyle
