Subrosa’s old filmer, Bobby Kanode, decided to release a video that might not have ever seen the light of day…
Anyone who has taken filming BMX serious has always dreamed of being paid to film for a brand or a video project. Bobby Kanode spent 3 years as the team filmer for Subrosa, which meant he spent his days traveling all over the place with the team filming for web videos, full-length videos and more. During his time he stacked a lot of clips, some were used, others weren’t and were just sitting on his hard drive waiting to be seen. The time has finally come, because Bobby has gone through and edited the clips into this full-length video that’s loaded with pure gold featuring their team riders, past and present, during that time frame. When Subrosa first started out, they did a lot of their projects in black and white, so that’s where the title comes from. Get the full story from Bobby below!
“From 2013 to 2016 I had the opportunity of a lifetime to be the filmer for Subrosa Brand. When it was all over I was left with a hard drive full of good times, and last year I chopped this video up to “clean out my closet.” I can’t say enough good things about all the boys, and I had the time of my life. This is kind of the DVD that never happened. Big thank you to Ronnie Bonner and Ryan Sher for having me for those years, and bigger shout out to the best team in BMX.
We’ve got a lot of recycled clips in here but they’re in color now, as well as brand new (yet still old) never seen section from Johnny (no longer on Subrosa) and a stacked friends section. Pretty hyped!

Here’s one that’ll get you stoked to go out and ride. Ryan Fudger put together this raw cut from a bowl session he caught with Gary Young, Hoang Tran, Ratty Matty, Allen Twin and Rose Huston. It’s hard to imagine this bowl was filled in, but luckily it has been revived and the good times have continued to flow there. Check out a ton of real good riding and plenty of crashes that went down!
“Sometimes you gotta avoid the bowl trolls. This legendary pool in the greater San Diego area got dug out for a short while and we headed out before the sun came up to be able to get proper session. Thanks to the hard work of the dudes who dug it out…we sincerely appreciate you.

Tammy McCarley coming through with a new video for you viewing pleasure. This time around we get a mix of footage from some time Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart and Albert Mercado spent out in Phoenix, Arizona visiting Tammy recently. As expected with a crew like this, you get n plenty of grinds, some real good lines and plenty of good vibes. Can’t go wrong with having fun on your bike.

As they say, all good things must come to an end at some point. After five years and five different versions of Hoang Tran‘s signature Villicus frame from Subrosa, the final version is being released as we type this. The Villicus Infinity, which marks the 5th version of this series that has seen the Villicus, Villicus II, Villicus Prime and Villicus Prime II previously, will be the last in the series. Not to say that Hoang will no longer be apart of the Subrosa team, because he definitely will and will probably end up with a different signature frame at some point. They’re just retiring the long standing Villicus frame. So, with that being said, we figured there’s no better time than now to give you a close up look at the Villicus Infinity. Ready? Let’s do this!
Subrosa just dropped a new Bike Check with Hoang Tran and his current setup that he’s running. Hoang is currently on a prototype version of his new signature Villicus Infinity frame that’s due out real soon. Over the course of the past few weeks we’ve been getting a steady flow of BMX videos from the Subrosa crew who recently spent some time out in California. We’ve seen a bunch of videos from the shop stops they did, now we get the footage they were stacking along the way making for one hell of a BMX video. “The “Subrosa in California” Tour consisted mainly of shops stops. With 5 shop stops, 2 video premieres, and 1 podcast in 7 days, the crew had a pretty busy schedule, but you know how the Subrosa dudes are, and when there was free time, we were out riding.
Featuring Subrosa riders Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart, Lahsaan Kobza, Nick Bullen, and Simone Barraco riding parks and a little street during our short time in California.
