It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these “The Art Of” pieces, so we figured it would be a good time to take a closer look at one part in particular that we’ve been thinking about lately, the BMX Sprocket. The other day we were bouncing around to a few different brands websites to see if there were any new products or anything else new to see, and we ended up staring at the sprockets. When you think about it, the sprocket is one of those things that can really be altered the most as far as aesthetics go. We’ve seen A LOT of sprockets in BMX’s history, so we decided to stick to sprockets that are currently available. Even with cutting it back to that, there’s still a ton of options available. Add in the different combos between the standard bolt drive, Spline drive, and socket drive, colors, versions with guards, etc. There’s a lot to take in. We bounced around and picked out some of our favorites from a number of brands, which you can check out below with a few words about each! Ready?
Frostbike 2016 – The Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa
Moving right along! Next up we stopped by the Shadow Conspiracy and Subrosa Brand booth to see what they have been cooking on down in Florida lately. As always, they have an extensive line for both brands, so let’s take a look at just a sample of those lines that they had on display! Ready? Let’s do this!
Trey Jones Video Bike Check
Curious what Trey Jones is running for a setup these days? Well, here’s a fresh video Bike Check giving you a closer look at his current Cult Stone Cold setup decked out with Cult and Shadow Conspiracy parts from top to bottom! There’s even a bunch of riding clips from his backyard mixed in for good measure! Hit play and take a closer look!
“Cult’s Trey Jones is always doing his own thing and we’ve always been big fans of that. The same comes for his bike setup as this thing isn’t your average looking whip. We got our man Stew Johnson over to Florida to catch some footage of Trey tearing it up at home on that super fun looking ramp setup in his backyard. Cue the hair metal tunes!” – DIG
Sneak Peek: Shadow Conspiracy – Tire Colors
Are you starting to look for some new tires? You’re in luck because next month The Shadow Conspiracy will be introducing three new color options to their line up. Their Valor tire will come in a dark green with grey sideways, the Simone Barraco signature Strada Nuova tire will come in this new brown with grey sidewall and then finally, their all new Contender Welterweight tire will be coming in blue with black sidewalls. Not sure if these colors are specific to each tire, or if they will be available across the board, but we’re leaning toward specific to each tire. If you like what you’re seeing, expect BMX shops and mail-orders that carry The Shadow Conspiracy to have them in stock in March!
Shadow Conspiracy – Joris Coulomb Crystal Cruise
The Shadow Conspiracy sent through a fresh BMX video from the one and only Joris Coulomb for us all to enjoy! This video comes with a laid back vibe, but you better believe Joris cooked up some amazing riding that he makes look all too easy. Dialed riding, great spots and some real good film work. You won’t want to pass this up!
“Hit the streets for metaphysical cruise with French Shadow rider Joris Coulomb. Mixing the tech and the burly with a style uniquely his own, Joco has a knack for making anything look good.

Sneak Peek: Shadow Conspiracy – Mark Burnett Signature Tripod Seat
Here’s a sneak peek look at the Mark Burnett signature Tripod seat that The Shadow Conspiracy are working on currently. No word on the release date other than later this year. This seat features a pretty unique aztec style theme that we’re sure a bunch of you are digging. Expect more details closer to its release.
Shadow Conspiracy – Jabe Jones Welcome to the Family
It was only a matter of time before Trey Jones younger brother, Jabe Jones found himself getting picked up by sponsors. Today, The Shadow Conspiracy have dropped his official welcome BMX video to bring the news of Jabe’s addition. Jabe’s style is definitely unique and he has an approach similar to his brothers that finds unique and original lines and spots to ride that most of us wouldn’t see. Watch as Jabe drops off a bunch of roofs, cruises Trey’s backyard ramps, takes a swim, drops more roofs and puts in some time on rails, ledges, a few skatepark clips and even some trails. Talk about all over the place. Highly suggest you check this one out because it kicks a lot of ass! Yeah, Jabe!
“The Shadow Conspiracy is proud to welcome to the family 16 year-old, Orlando, Florida ripper Jabe Jones. Brother of Shadow pro Trey Jones, we have been watching Jabe grow to become one badass rider. From huge roof drops to wild can-can landers, Jabe is making a style unique to him that will surely get you stoked to go out and ride. Check out his edit and join us as we welcome him to the Shadow family!

Johnny Devlin Bike Check
The Shadow Conspiracy have caught up with Johnny Devlin for a fresh Bike Check giving us a closer look at his current setup that has seen quite a few changes. As many of you recall, Johnny has been running brakes, 3 pegs and a cassette for quite some time. After “What Could Go Wrong?” filming wrapped up, he decided it was time to make a drastic change to his setup to freshen riding up for himself. Johnny is now brakeless, pegless and on a freecoaster which is complete night and day from where he was before. You can check out more photos and get a full parts list by visiting The Shadow Conspiracy website here — Johnny Devlin Bike Check
