It’s not every day that I have the opportunity to introduce a new brand to the world. It’s not that there’s a lack of new brands these days, but there is a lack of brands that get me excited when I heard about them. And Forks is a new brand (so new that their website isn’t even up yet) coming from the master mind of Mark Noble, the owner of the trails directed brand Deluxe, that focuses specifically on one main product… forks. Don’t get the wrong idea, street guys. This isn’t a trails specific brand, in fact, I think you might be shocked at who is actually on the team for this new project.
And Forks wasn’t going to debut until Interbike, but after a little convincing, Mark decided to answer some questions about the brand to let you know what’s On The Horizon for this new project. So let’s take a look at what the And Forks is all about…

On the Horizon: Cardinal Bikes
Cardinal is one of the newer brands that joined the industry over the past few years and there’s no doubt that they are sticking to their heavily street influenced style. This rider owned brand is making some moves for 2011 and into the next year. I figured it was a good time to catch up with the man in charge, Nate Moroshan, to talk a little bit about what Cardinal is all about and where it’s going in the future. Let’s take a look…

On the Horizon: Bad Timing
A few weeks ago, the Bad Timing promo video hit the internet and it caused quite a bit of a stir with the video getting embedded pretty much everywhere. The crew consisting of guys like Jay Roe, Darryl Tocco, Tony Hamlin, Geoff Slattery, Aaron Smith and Lloyd Wright to name a few are members of this rider owned and run clothing brand that has come back for its revival in 2011. I figured it would be a good time to get ahold of Jay and Darryl to find out more about this brand and what’s to come. I’m not sure, but maybe this is Bad Timing for this one…

On the Horizon: Tree Bicycle Co.
A few weeks back, there was a bit of a stir about Tree‘s decision to move production over to Taiwan after a post on Prollyisnotprobably.com. Like most rumors in BMX, there are the people who have no idea what’s going on that skew things from their assumptions to an extent that leads more people to make assumptions that are even further from the actual situation. I decided that it would probably be best to talk to the source to figure out what’s going on. Sam Schulte gives you the story about their reluctant decision to make the move fully overseas. Let’s take a look and clear some things up…

On the Horizon: Dishonour Brand
Dishonour is one of those clothing brands in BMX that have been really making some moves. This isn’t your average “I want to make a t-shirt” kind of company. Over the course of the last few years it has formed into one of Australia’s raddest apparel brands in the BMX scene. I’ve been real impressed with what I have been seeing out of the brand lately and decided it was time to hit up James Wade and talk about the brand, where it began, what it’s made of, where it’s going, the team and more. Let’s take a closer look at Dishonour…
On the Horizon – Quality Bicycle Products
Every year for the last three years, I’ve made my way up to Bloomington, Minnesota for the annual Frostbike, which is like a miniture Interbike for brands that Quality Bicycle Products carries. When I was there I started thinking about how much goes into an operation like this distributor that handles shops all across the U.S on the daily, I realized there were a lot of questions that could be asked. I figured it would be pretty cool to find out more about the company by talking with two guys I’ve known for a while now through riding, Jay Schlie and Glenn Dussl. Jay and Glenn have been a big part of the BMX scene in Minnesota for years, and it just so happens that they both handle a good portion of the BMX department at QBP. Check out what they had to say for my questions, and some photos of the building that I shot while I was up there this past year for Frostbike…

On the Horizon: Amity Bike Co.
Amity Bike Co is one of those names that has been popping up more and more over the last year. I recall thinking the first time I saw the name Amity that it was just going to be a crew of guys from the U.K, but clearly, I was wrong. As time went on, I started getting more curious about the brand, and eventually I started noticing their product line and team growing at a fast pace. After an interview with Amity’s rider, Mike King, I decided it was time to get ahold of Amity and find out a little bit more about them. We had held off since a lot of things had been just starting to pop up with new products, addition of a U.S team and such. It took three months, but Marc and I finally got a chance to talk about the brand. This might just be the start for the brand, but if things keep going the way they are, we will be hearing more from Amity for years to come. Check out what Marc had to say, some product photos and some recent team edits. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments!
On the Horizon: Quintin Co.
Over the course of the last year, Quintin has been becoming a very recognizable name in the BMX industry with the announcement of the team, plenty of new products, collaborations with different brands, web videos and even their own skatepark. I’ve been becoming more and more interested and finally ended up talking with Brett Wiley a little bit. We decided it would be a good idea to do one of our On the Horizon’s to give you guys a little more insight into the brand. So check out what Brett had to say, some photos and videos, and then leave some love in the comments. I feel like this might just be the start for a few other projects further down the road.
